Acrion Biosynthesis is a bio–industrial technology startup developing advanced solutions for polymer degradation and mixed-waste valorization. Our core R&D integrates molecular biotechnology, polymer engineering, catalytic chemistry, and process intensification to address India’s large-scale plastic waste challenge. The startup’s primary focus is the development of segregation-independent waste conversion systems, engineered to process heterogeneous municipal solid waste streams. Using proprietary catalytic pathways and polymer reformation processes, Acrion Biosynthesis converts mixed dump-yard waste into engineered thermoplastics, functional polymer blends, and platform biochemicals with defined molecular and mechanical properties. This enables the direct transformation of low-value waste into high-value industrial materials. Parallelly, the company is advancing a biodegradable enzyme platform consisting of engineered hydrolases and oxidoreductases optimized for polymer chain scission. These enzymes are designed to degrade polyethylene, polypropylene, PET, and multilayered plastics with high specificity and without microplastic residue. The enzymatic degradation system is being formulated for both in-situ landfill remediation and industrial plastic treatment applications, supporting circular bioeconomy models. Acrion’s technology stack is built on principles of green chemistry, reduced energy dependence, and scalable bioprocessing. The overarching goal is to create commercially deployable, cost-efficient solutions capable of reducing landfill load, replacing fossil-derived plastics, and supporting India’s transition toward sustainable materials and environmentally responsible waste management.
