What we hold

Three things we can tell you, and one we can't.

Where they are

1,77,020

of 4,53,192 (39%)

District for 2,75,359. Locality for 12,141. Street for 1,64,879. Nothing for 813.

What they do

4,53,192

of 4,53,192 (100%)

Industry, sector and stage for effectively every startup. This is the one complete field, and it comes straight from the government's own taxonomy.

How much we hold on them

2,28,415

of 4,53,192 (50%)

Startups carrying a real description plus a CIN or a website. The rest are a name, a district, an industry and a stage. This counts our evidence, not whether the company is trading.

Registration is not an operating signal. A large share of registered startups are dormant, and we have no way to tell you which. Read the methodology .

Where the money is

Funded startups, by district.

All 412 districts →

42,796 companies carry funding evidence or a state-scheme registration and a coordinate we believe. That is 9.4% of the register, and it is the part of it worth putting on a map.

What this site will not tell you.

Whether a company is trading

Registration is not an operating signal. A large share of registered startups are dormant, and we have no way to tell you which. There is no filings feed, no revenue and no check that a website still resolves. A page here is a listing, not a certificate.

How much anyone raised

We hold no licensed funding feed, so no amount appears anywhere except the Seed Fund ledger, which is the scheme's own published figure. "Funded" here is an evidence trail, and 9,832 of the companies on the map are there for a state-scheme registration, which is not money at all.

Which companies are good

There is no ranking, no score and no "top startups" list. Lists are ordered by count or by name. The only thing graded here is our own evidence.

Where most of them actually are

61% of our coordinates are district centroids, which is a label on a map and not an address. Only the 1,64,879 street-level startups are ever drawn as a pin, and we publish no door numbers.

About this map and these numbers

What the shapes on the map mean, what the four counts above are counting, and what this site deliberately will not tell you.

What do the circles on the map mean?

Circle size is how many companies are registered in that district, not where they are. Only the 1,64,879 startups with a street-level coordinate, 36.4% of 4,53,192, are ever drawn as an individual dot, and only from zoom 10 up. 61% of our coordinates are district centroids, which is a label on a map rather than an address, so those are drawn as an area. How we counted.

Can I tap a district and see the companies in it?

Tapping a circle opens a panel of companies recorded at that point and a link through to the district page, which carries the full count, the industry mix and the stage mix. The map is not the only way in: all 712 district pages and 36 state pages are browsable without it.

What are the four numbers in the dark band at the top of this page?

Companies on the register (4,53,192), how many of those the portal shows as DPIIT recognised (2,31,835), how many we can place at street level (1,64,879), and the total approved under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (Rs 755 crore across 175 incubators). The first three are counted from our 2026-08 snapshot. The fourth is the scheme's own published ledger, and it is the only hard money on this site.

Does this site rank or score companies?

No. There is no ranking, no score and no "top startups" list anywhere on it. Lists are ordered by count or by name, and the only thing we grade is our own evidence: how precisely we can place a startup and how much of it we hold. We have no view on any company. What this is and is not.

How do I look up one specific company?

Use search, which matches on company name. A company page shows what the government register holds and, where we have matched a CIN, what the Ministry of Corporate Affairs filing says. It is a listing, not a certificate. Registration is not an operating signal. A large share of registered startups are dormant, and we have no way to tell you which.
