About

Indian Startup Map is published by Apexlayer Technologies. It takes the startup data the Indian government already publishes, which is scattered across a portal that paginates nine records at a time and several state sites, and turns it into something you can actually read: 4,56,713 companies, placed, classified and cross-checked.

Why it exists

The data is public but not usable. The commercial products that make it usable put it behind a paywall and will not tell you where their numbers came from. There is room for something that is free, cites its sources on every page, and is honest about the large parts it does not know.

What it does not do

Indian Startup Map is an independent publication by Apexlayer Technologies. We are not DPIIT, not Startup India, and not affiliated with the Government of India. A page on this site is a record, not an endorsement.

It does not rank companies, score them, or tell you which are worth your money. It has no view on any company. It is a register with a map, and the most useful thing about it is that it tells you how confident to be in every figure it shows you.
