Press

Indian Startup Map is an independent publication by Apexlayer Technologies that takes the startup data the Indian government already publishes, which is scattered across a portal paginating nine records at a time and several state sites, and turns it into something readable: 4,53,192 companies placed in their districts, classified, deduplicated, and shown with the evidence we actually hold on each record rather than the impression we could create. It is free, it cites its sources on every page, and its most unusual feature is that it tells you how confident to be in each figure.

Indian Startup Map is an independent publication by Apexlayer Technologies. We are not DPIIT, not Startup India, and not affiliated with the Government of India. A page on this site is a record, not an endorsement.

The figures, and where each is computed

Each number below is computed on this page from the same files the linked page reads, so the two cannot disagree. Quote any of them with the snapshot, 2026-08, because this is a point-in-time sweep and a number without its date silently goes wrong. A citation you can paste.

What we will say on the record

How the register is assembled and where every field comes from. What DPIIT recognition confers and what it does not. How coarse the coordinates are and why we refuse to draw a pin we cannot justify. The arithmetic of the Seed Fund Scheme, approved against disbursed. Where our counts differ from the government's own and by how much. Why we hold director names and registered office addresses and publish neither. Any of that, in detail, with the underlying figures.

What we will not say

Coverage

Nothing to list. When something is published about this project, it will be linked here, and until then this section stays empty rather than filling up with logos we have not earned. We do not have a media kit; if you need the wordmark or a screenshot, ask and we will send it.

Contact and attribution

trust@indianstartupmap.com reaches a monitored inbox at Apexlayer Technologies. Say what you are working on and what figure you need; if we cannot stand behind it we will say so rather than hedge it into print.

Attribute the compilation to Indian Startup Map (Apexlayer Technologies) with the snapshot, and credit the Government of India as the publisher of the underlying register. Reuse terms are on the licence page, the full method is on the methodology page, and the questions we get asked most are answered on the FAQ.
