We are agaamin.in. We are a registry service for Web3 "Smart Names". And we are on a mission to create an “Indian Internet” that works for all of humanity as opposed to the current system which is heavily skewed towards English and Latin alphabet-based languages. Web3 which is going to disrupt every aspect our of online lives is not just an incremental improvement over web2, it is in fact structurally and fundamentally different from the legacy internet, and one of the most important facets of this pertains to our online identities. In the legacy web our identities are given to us by centralised entities like google and facebook as 'usernames' which we then use as our social identities, email ids and log into most apps. The business model being, In exchange for letting us use their services for free they get to monetize our identities. In Web3 every user gets to control, own and monetize their own identity. Every user will have their own “name” which can work as a domain name, avatar id in the metaverse, vanity email id, Wallet addresses and universal log into DApps. While this sounds exciting, this also creates a real danger of a digital divide where folks who use non english languages will end up getting side-lined on an important medium such as the internet. This is where we come in to the picture. It is our mission to create an "Indian Internet"! An internet rooted in a decentralised chain and a DNS ecosystem that operates in vernacular languages. So, let’s envisage an internet is all major Indian languages Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam internets, each can be its own silo while ALSO being part of the larger internet. Over time this can expand to other non english speaking cultures like the middle east and so on.... This creates an opportunity for every major culture in our country find expression in the digital space. Also, we would like our national DNS infrastructure to be independent of external third parties when it comes to control and "security certification". There are 5 billion internet users across the world. 1.5 Billion of them speak english. That’s 3.5 billion people who don't ! 2 billion of them are in India, Middle-East, Russia, South east & the far east. This is our focus for the next two years.
