AQUA VENTURES
Kodagu, Karnataka
In their own words
AQUA VENTURES is the result of years of consistent effort. Treading on the lines of a second Blue Revolution, the idea was to make our initiative more prolific. Aqua Ventures™ started as a backyard experiment in Siddapur in the Kodagu district of Karnataka is founded by a postgraduate in Fisheries Science from CIFE, Mumbai. The vision is to develop small innovations that make aquaculture a popular and a profitable occupation. Coorg being a predominantly coffee growing area, the coffee drying yards and existing irrigation tanks caught our attention. Yards were utilized for only 2-3 months of the year and were left vacant for the rest of the period. The vast potential to utilize these areas for aquaculture called for designing a system which would make it possible to grow fish in the yards. The result of our efforts is a novel tank design called the Modular Prefabricated Enclosure (MPE) which is a registered Design Patent. Similarly irrigation tanks are unused water bodies for much of the year
