· This Viable product relates to the produced spawn on augmented agro wastes without the incorporation of edible food grains like sorghum, wheat maize and other cereal grains thus, increasing the use of agro wastes in a positive way (Bio-recycling) as a means to spawn production. Ethno Viable Spawn (EVS) is a living product. It is planting material of mushroom, consists of mycelia of the fungus multiplied on suitable substrates like agro waste. The mycelia of mushroom fungus cannot be propagated as such, hence the mycelia are multiplied on a carrier like agro waste. · This invention relates to the making of spawn for mushroom industry to reduce cost of the substrate material and its preparation from spent or agro waste substrate with a neutralizer added. Heretofore mushroom spawn has been grown in various ways including in manure on cereal grains and on maize cob grits Improvements have been made in the production of this Ethno Viable Spawn. · By the invention various advantage in spawn production can realized such as reduced cost of the substrate material and its preparation, great reduction in the time and trouble of preparation, easier inoculation of the substrate with culture, more rapid growth and spreading of the mycelium in the substrate adaptative of the spawn to various modes of planting, greater vigor of the spawn and quicker growth of the spawn after planting in the mushroom beds. · In accordance with the present practice for making of EVS we are utilize the Maize Cob Grits (MCG) and Groundnut Shell (GS) as a substrate which ordinarily would be discarded as waste after removal of maize seeds have been found to be excellent basic substrate for use in the spawn production process.
