In their own words

We strongly believe that every industry must go through a change in their production techniques, keeping in mind the need to avert an ecological apocalypse. The fashion industry is one of the world’s largest consumer industries that produces goods which put the earth’s natural resources under a lot of pressure. The global fashion industry is the world’s second most polluting industry. And with the population and demand increasing each year, the whole industry is now in jeopardy, struggling to make ends meet and produce fashion apparel that is sustainable and ethical. The negative impact doesn’t just limit to environmental factors but also extends to the humanitarian conditions of workers in this industry. Over 50% of the world’s fashion companies employ workers from Bangladesh and India, whose working rights are non-existent. Most of these fashion companies make huge profits every year but spend only about 0.2% of it towards the benefit of the workers. We know and believe that it’s not just in the hands of the government to bring about a change. It is also the duty of big corporations as well as small companies to take responsibility. Companies must make sure that workers are paid fair wages, regulate their working hours, check for their safety and health. It’s evident that the fashion industry too must take every opportunity to monitor and control its methods of production. Kapraa’s idea is based on a simple fact; it’s high time we work towards preventing these environmental catastrophes and move towards a more sustainable and ethical lifestyle. At Kapraa, we set our heart to deliver garments that are ethically sourced and produced. Our priority also centers to building a community that is committed to keeping the centuries old tradition of hand block printing alive in India. With many artisans losing jobs that are being replaced by screen printing and chemical colours, Kapraa will help this community survive and grow. After all, it's upon us to preserve our culture and tradition. Coming to the production of natural fibres (cotton, wool and silk), including dyeing and finishing, the whole process takes anywhere between 2500-7500 litres of water. To avert this, Kapraa thoughtfully chooses to use organic fabrics, organic farming techniques and natural colours. The alchemy of applying natural dyes to cotton and other natural fabrics in the creation of the block-printed textiles require long and laborious cleaning and bleaching of the cotton fabric to remove impurities and prepare the fiber to receive the dye. Although this is a longer process, our goal is to efficiently use all the natural resources. And most importantly, with the use of these methods, we move with targeted initiatives to strive towards having a positive environmental and social footprint. In conclusion, Kapraa wants to build a multi-faceted marketing approach that goes beyond ‘eco-friendly’. We want to entice our customers with creativity and a strong core of sustainability through apparel. Our brand has the potential to grow exponentially as customers become educated about the truth behind the industry.

What we do not know

We have no liveness signal for any company on this site: no filings feed, no revenue, no check that the website still resolves. A record existing here means a record exists, not that a business is trading.
