Despite banks and NBFCs aggressively pushing their products, the urban lower middle class is deprived of access to cheap finance. This segment is also kept out of the purview of Government schemes. MFIs are catering to business needs of this segment mainly via JLG route. But for their personal needs, they depend mainly on moneylenders, with interest rates as high as 5-10% p.m. We have stepped in to fill the void, by providing individual personal loans at very competitive rates for all non-consumption needs of the urban poor, without any collateral. In a short span, we have developed CBS and CRM in-house, which are much better than the ones being used by many NBFCs. And now we are in the process of digitising the application sourcing process. Our model not only has proven commercial viability, we are also playing an important social role of financial inclusion of the urban poor.
