India is an emerging economy and the purchasing power of the people in India is ever increasing. India still is a agriculture dominated country and approximately two third of the population still lives in the rural parts of the country. The access to personal care, hygiene and related products is limited to the customers living in the urban parts of the country. In India there are not many players involved in the business of these products. A few MNCs such as P&G, J&J, and HUL are in the business of these products but the reach of these companies is somewhat restricted to the urban parts of the country. The prices set by these MNCs are also out of the reach of the customers living in the rural parts of the country. The limited reach of these companies has not been able to address the personal care and hygiene needs of the rural customer and the rural population is suffering from a lot many diseases arising out of the poor sanitation. One of the major problems faced by the rural customer is how to address the problems associated with the menstruation cycle. Lack of awareness about the menstruation among the rural populations has led to many a diseases such as cervical cancer and have far reaching implications such as removal of uterus at a very young and productive age, absence from work by ladies in the age group of 18 to 40 years, absence from school by the girls once they reach the age of puberty. Rural population largely is depended on sources such as old & rugged cloth, Ash, and husk to take care of the menstrual flow. All these unhygienic methods have led to the problems mentioned above. Since I come from rural backgrounds and have witnessed the plight of the rural population. The promoters have been able to attain good education, have been associated with various NGOs in the past and have attained higher education from the prestigious institutes of the country. This journey from small towns of the country to the metro cities and interaction with learned professors have inspired the promoters to start a company that focuses on the health and sanitary needs of the people living specially in the rural India.
