Challenge1 : The public clouds today though own infrastructure within the EU region and publish that they are GDPR compliant , the EU central court thinks otherwise. Schrems II judgement by the EU central court: In summary what the court says is that the companies in EU are at their own risk hosting on public clouds. I dug into the matter a little more out of interest and found that the judgement is based on US legislations. I understand that the US legislations are so strong that given a situation no one can stop the agencies like FBI to gather and take data from the infrastructure of these Public Clouds in EU region. So the challenge for EU is how to counter this and make sure the organizations honor the Data & Information Sovereignty? This in the EU region is mostly driven by France & Germany followed by the rest of countries.
