In their own words

A Farmer Producer Company (FPC) is a type of producer company in India that is formed by farmers, with the primary objective of empowering them by promoting collective farming and marketing of their agricultural produce. The concept of FPCs was introduced by the Indian government in 2002 to provide farmers with a platform to collectively undertake farming and marketing activities, thereby increasing their bargaining power, improving access to credit, and reducing transaction costs. FPCs are registered under the Companies Act, 2013 and can have a maximum of 2000 members, all of whom must be farmers or have a direct link to agriculture. The members elect a board of directors, which manages the affairs of the company. FPCs can undertake a range of activities related to agriculture, including procurement, processing, packaging, branding, and marketing of agricultural produce, as well as providing services like soil testing and crop advisory. FPCs are seen as a promising model for improving the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers in India, who often face challenges in accessing markets, credit, and other resources. By promoting collective action and pooling resources, FPCs can help farmers overcome these challenges and achieve greater economic stability and sustainability.

What we do not know

We have no liveness signal for any company on this site: no filings feed, no revenue, no check that the website still resolves. A record existing here means a record exists, not that a business is trading.

If something is wrong, the authoritative place to correct it is the Startup India portal itself, and we will pick the correction up on the next monthly snapshot.
