AEye SoftLabs Private Limited is a technology based company working in the field of Computer Vision, a sub domain of a broader technology called Artificial Intelligence. We believe that there are new possibilities being created due to the advances in the field of Artificial Intelligence, which were not possible even just a year ago! The problem that we have chosen to work on at this point in time is Automatic Number Plate Recognition(ANPR) and the use cases around it. What is ANPR? Automatic number-plate recognition is a technology that uses optical character recognition on images to read vehicle registration plates. Such a technology wherein cameras can look at a vehicle and are able to identify it and also gather meta information such as it’s model, make and pricing would open up new possibilities in solving some interesting problems such as, 1) Automatic Vehicle Movement detection and identification at entry and exit in secured organisations. Ex: Premium hotels, resorts, government buildings, warehouses, factories etc. 2) Automated vehicle authorisation based on Number Plate Detection. In an ANPR system, Vehicle Number becomes a unique identifier which is an excellent substitute for the RFID tags, magnetic or bar code tickets, stickers, tags and remote controls. Tech parks, Govt. organisations, etc. 3) Automated toll/parking fee collection Malls, metro stations, theatres, toll gates etc. 4) Business analytics for malls, large retail stores for demographics derived from vehicle meta information.
