Alumex Industries Private Limited
Bengaluru, Karnataka
In their own words
The aluminium industry is the largest non-ferrous metal industry in the world economy. Aluminium has so many applications that it is impossible to imagine a world without it. The amazing, unique qualities of this metal give it an almost endless range of applications, like transport, packaging, electrical application, medicine, and construction of homes and furniture etc. It is a key factor to improve global living standards and developing a better and more sustainable world environment. Since its industrial production, demand for aluminium has been continuously increasing to around 45 million tons in 2004 and its application has extended to a variety of economic sectors. The production of the primary aluminium from bauxite is electricity intensive process and consumes the majority of the energy used in the sector. Furthermore, primary aluminium production process emits carbon dioxide and two kinds of per fluorocarbon gases (PFCs), which are all important greenhouse gases (GHGs). Therefore energy price and GHGs reduction policy have great influence on the technology evolution and the economy of the sector.
