ANA PlayLabs Global is an applied-AI company building learning products for early learners (ages 4–8). Its first product, ZigZu, is an AI reading coach for Indian children. It listens to a child read aloud and teaches the words they miss using phonics. Children read aloud from a library of 200+ storybooks while ZigZu listens using real-time speech recognition. It follows along word-by-word, scores pronunciation and steps in to teach any word the child struggles with. It also shares a comprehensive progress report with the parent. Every child gets the individual reading-aloud practice a one-to-one tutor would give, at a fraction of the cost, on an ordinary low-cost Android phone. ZigZu scores pronunciation in Indian English, and its audio and phonics content are built for Indian English too, so children are coached against how Indian children actually speak rather than US/UK norms. ZigZu is live on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. More than 330 families have signed up and their children have read nearly 60,000 words aloud in the last 45 days. The product is built for the large and underserved Indian market first. Millions of school-going children can recognise words but cannot yet read aloud with confidence, a gap that compounds into weaker learning and employability over time. The product will later be expanded to Indian-origin (NRI) families abroad and other English-as-a-second-language markets. Over time, ZigZu is building a proprietary Indian-English speech and pronunciation dataset that will keep making its coaching more accurate, an asset that is specific to Indian-English learners and hard for global products to replicate.
