Hypovolemia from battlefield injuries and civilian trauma injuries remain the leading cause of morbidity and mortality around the world, especially in emerging countries like India. In addition to loss of precious lives, the socio-economic impact is significant, and by some accounts exceeds 2% of India’s GDP. Consequently, immediate management of hemorrhagic bleeding is necessary to reduce morbidity and mortality and improve survivability. Currently, treatment options are limited in India and much of the devices used in the field imported. APRUS has developed a novel, innovative, proprietary, high-absorbency, bio-polymer technology (APREX H) comprising of bio-degradable, eco-sustainable hydrophilic plant derived polymers. Our Platform Technology formed the basis of several innovative and cost-effective hemostatic devices including, sprayable, rapid-hemostatic foam device for bleeding wounds (TRAUMASTAT), hemostatic wound care powders (APREX H HemoSEAL/ APREX H WoundSEAL), hemostatic positive-pressure bandage (APREX-H Python), and hemostatic surgical sponges (APREX H SoakerSEAL). The cost-effective devices, supplied as a kit, are readily usable in supplied format(s) with minimal preparation for combat trauma use to reduce morbidity and mortality, and can be easily applied by wounded individual or combat EMT.
