am Priyatosh Sarkar from Karimganj Assam, located in the remote north-eastern corner of India. Owing to it geographical distancefrom mainland India, industrial development has not been at par, however the efforts of present Government both at Centre andState for the development of the region are really appreciable. Government of India’s flagship programs like PMEGP, FAME , Make In India, StartUp India, StandUp India has really encouraged meto come forward and start manufacturing activity so that I can create employment opportunities for local youth in our small district. Being a Mechanical Engineer from MNIT Jaipur and post graduate in MBA from Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar,having work experience of 15 years in technical as well as well marketing field, I believe in the promising future of Electrical Vehicleand if worked with dedication it can create jobs in Karimganj, Assam. With limited resources I took up the challenge ofmanufacturing low cost Electric Rickshaws in 2018 in Karimganj, Assam with my personal fund with the twin objective 1. Creating local employment opportunities 2. Affordable Electric Rickshaws for the poor. Along with my project team we indigenously design & engineered Electric 2Wheelers and Electric Rickshaws at cost which is 30 – 40% cheaper than leading competitors in the local market who are simply assembling E-Rickshaws which are mostly imported from China, which is neither generating sustainable jobs and the costs of owning an E-Rickshaw is beyond the buying power of the poor. Through my efforts I am not only contributing towards job creation but also contributing towards economic growth of the stae and also saving some dollars for the nation by using 90% Indian components and reducing dependency on China. Moreover, the financial weaker section of the society will find it affordable, to be the owner of an E Rickshaw and live a life with dignity. Owing to its robust design, improved life of vehicle, quality components and reliability, our E Rickshaws are in great demand and has the potential to become a market leader in Assam and also export to African and other neighbouring Countries. With a production capacity of 1200 rickshaws annually, we can generate 20 direct employment and 1250 indirect employment.
