BCFD TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED
Sector 25A, Haryana
In their own words
Agri-tech is one of the most ignored and under developed sector in India. The farmers put the most effort in the sowing a crop, fruit or vegetable, faces scarcity of water and infrastructure, patiently waits for the produce to bet ready and finally sell it the local or regional market. Even with all these difficulties and hard work the yield that a farmer gets is very low. There is big, unrealistic divide between the money realised by farmer for his/her produce vs the money that a customer pays for buying the same produce. This huge disparity in the price is coming because of the complete lack of or because of insufficient and ineffective supply chains that exist between the farmers and the end consumer. Most supply chain start-ups have tried to solve this by buying directly from farmers and selling directly to the customers. But these have also not been able to scale up and even today most of the consumers buy their fruit and vegetable from the local retailers / local mandis and hence forcing the farmer to be dependent on these channels only. Our start-up BCFD Technologies Pvt Ltd wants to disrupt this so a farmer can get more money for his produce. A retailer can make more money while the consumer pays less for the same or higher quality produce. In essence we are changing the way fruits and vegetables supply chain work today. The impact of this supply chain would be: - Up to 30% more revenue for farmers - Up to 200% increase in a retailers profit - Up to 30% lower price for the consumer To achieve the above BCFD Technologies and its founders are creating a proprietary supply chain from farm to the customers doorstep. This will include a fleet of existing commercial vehicles and a lot of electric vehicles for the middle mile. Based on the demand from each retailer, machine learning would be used to create the dispatch supply chain that can feed to the retailer every 4-5 hours. Customers can walk-in to the customer or place their fruits and vegetables order from telephone and using WhatsApp. The customers will also have access to iOS and Android App on which they can check the price for the farmer, the wholesale mandi and the retail price. They can also know which quantity and quality of produce is available and at what location. Using distributed data centres – all located within the country- live consumption and purchase data will be given to the farmers so they can decide their yield accordingly. Overall, this start-up has the potential the change the face of Agri-tech as it exists today. This is very much in line with the mission of ‘atma nirbhar bharat’.
