Bharat Biomaterials LLP is a pioneering materials science company based in Udaipur, India, dedicated to developing sustainable, bio-based alternatives to traditional and synthetic leather. Our flagship innovation, Terratan™, is a next-generation plant-based leather made from renewable agro-waste such as sugarcane bagasse and cactus. Designed as an ethical and environmentally responsible alternative, Terratan™ addresses the pressing ecological challenges posed by the global leather industry. Unlike animal leather, which contributes to cruelty and water pollution, or synthetic leather made from harmful plastics like PU/PVC, Terratan™ is 100% animal-free, biodegradable, and non-toxic, requiring minimal water and no harmful chemicals in its production. Our proprietary process transforms agro-residues into a high-performance material that matches or exceeds the durability, breathability, and aesthetics of conventional leathers. It is also anti-fungal, water-resistant, and available in customizable thickness, width, and color through scalable roll-to-roll manufacturing. By utilizing agricultural byproducts and integrating eco-conscious technologies, we not only reduce environmental impact but also generate passive income for farmers and contribute to a circular economy. Our strategic vision includes becoming a global B2B supplier to sustainable fashion, upholstery, and automotive brands—especially in markets like Europe and the USA, where demand for ethical, low-carbon materials is rapidly growing. Bharat Biomaterials is currently in the R&D stage and actively building toward full-scale commercial production with support from grants, government initiatives, and early-stage investors.
