BIJUG’s Coconut Plucker is an innovation-driven agro-technology start-up focused on developing safe, affordable, and efficient coconut harvesting solutions for farmers and household users. The start-up aims to eliminate the risks associated with traditional manual tree climbing and address the shortage of skilled coconut climbers in India. The flagship product is a lightweight, retractable, and extendable coconut plucker pole made using durable square aluminum tubes with a secure locking and tightening mechanism. The device enables users to harvest coconuts from heights ranging between 20 to 100 feet without climbing the tree, thereby significantly reducing accidents, labor dependency, and harvesting costs. The start-up primarily targets small and marginal farmers, who constitute nearly 98% of coconut growers in India, along with residential property owners with coconut trees. By combining safety, portability, and cost-effectiveness, the venture aims to make coconut harvesting accessible to every household in coconut-growing regions. The long-term vision of the start-up is to expand into innovative agricultural tools and smart harvesting solutions, contributing to farmer safety, rural employment generation, and sustainable agricultural practices.
