Before anything else, we at Bloom Coffee Roasters are lovers of delicious coffee. Speciality coffee, by definition, means coffee that is scored above 80 out of 100 by trained coffee professionals called Q Graders, but there’s a lot more to it. As great as Speciality coffee is, it can often be a little unapproachable if not intimidating, especially to those unfamiliar with It. We want to make it a little bit more fun, approachable, and available to everyone. We are working with over 20 coffee estates from Coorg, Chikmagalur, Yercaud, and Kodaikanal to source some of the best coffees grown in India. North India hasn’t traditionally been a coffee-drinking area, but that has changed a lot over the last few years. This has been helped greatly by the quality of the coffee getting better and the coffee tasting less bitter. Over the last two years since we started, we have seen a shift in how people in the Chandigarh tri-city consume their coffee. From super nerdy home brewers to regular cafe hoppers, coffee drinkers in the region want delicious, freshly roasted, perfectly brewed coffee that is traceable and sustainable. We roast our coffees meticulously, always to order and we are providing these beans and blends to over 100 cafes and restaurants all across India, along with over a thousand home brewers who buy from our website. The perception of coffee being a bitter beverage, made just to wake you up is changing! We want to make you experience just how delicious, and flavourful great coffee can be. Baristas (the people who make the coffee) are probably the most essential clog in the supply chain as they control what the coffee will taste like at the end. Unfortunately, we realised that they aren’t trained, equipped or adequately paid, so we have started the Bloom Academy of Coffee in Panchkula, which is focused on upskilling these baristas, giving them proper training and in that process the confidence to make great coffee and hopefully find a sustainable career in coffee. When we say speciality coffee is for everyone, we mean everyone involved in the supply chain of coffee, from the planter to the person who brews and enjoys a delicious cup. When we achieve this, we get closer to making speciality coffee truly sustainable (Environmental, economic, social) for everyone!
