Bosti Harvest Private Limited is a Nagaland-based startup that focuses on transforming traditional agriculture into a sustainable, high-value, and market-oriented enterprise model. Incorporated with the vision of revitalizing rural economies in Nagaland, the company leverages local strengths in agri-horticulture to develop scalable value chains for crops such as kiwi, persimmon, mustard and mustard honey. The startup addresses critical challenges in the state’s agricultural ecosystem such as seasonal income dependency, post-harvest losses, lack of processing infrastructure, and weak market access by providing end-to-end solutions. These include: • Scientific nursery development and demonstration farms for organic kiwi and persimmon, • Cold chain and post-harvest infrastructure (grading, sorting, packaging, cold storage), • A cold-pressed mustard oil extraction unit, • Market linkages with institutional and digital buyers, and • Development of value-added products like dehydrated/freeze dried kiwi, juices, and jams and mustard honey Bosti Harvest blends innovation, sustainability, and local entrepreneurship. Its business model integrates small and marginal farmers, SHGs, and FPOs into formal agri-value chains while providing training, technical support, and access to premium markets. It also introduces integrated farming systems to mustard and kiwi farmers. For instance, introducing bee-keeping in mustard fields enhances pollination and honey production, while integrating vermicomposting into kiwi and persimmon orchards improves soil health and reduces chemical inputs.
