Bunavat is a for-profit social enterprise that works directly with weavers is to make traditional, sustainable and forgotten weaves more accessible, aspirational and relevant for the urban women. Fast fashion is leading to environmental issues, unfair trade practices and rendering the rural weaving communities unemployed. Sourcing directly from the weavers, Bunavat therefore aims to make available through an e-commerce platform, authentic and fashionable handloom for all occasions. The over-arching goal of Bunavat is to be able to empower the weaving communities through developmental programs. Bunavat currently works with 30 weaving clusters spread across 11 States of India. The product line includes handwoven sarees. Bunavat's USP is its own product range Advika, a design intervention initiative which focuses on amalgamation of various art forms on a single saree, making it exclusive and covetable. Bunavat also curates handwoven products already designed and produced by weavers and artisans. To increase customer awareness, Bunavat captures all its travel stores into the weaving clusters through a blog on the website, called 'Kathik'.
