These include a water distillation unit, MilliQ water purification system to generate ultra-pure water, high-speed centrifuge, gradient thermal cycler to conduct and optimize PCR reactions, DNA electrophoresis equipment, Trans-illuminator, ELISA reader for antibody-related work, UV spectrophotometer to quantify DNA, RNA, Proteins, etc., Balances, pHmeter, magnetic stirrer, Microfuge, waterbath, Ice making machine, Incubator shaker, dot blot apparatus, western blot apparatus, a clean room with a Laminar flow for microbial culture, two freezers operating at minus 20°C, two refrigerators, one ultra-cold freezer operating at minus 80 °C, an autoclave, dishwashing equipment and other small bench top equipment. Bangalore being a science city, has many service providers in the area of molecular biology for sequencing, primer synthesis, etc; there are several suppliers of molecular biology reagents.
