Electric vehicle revolution has started all over the world and is taking its first baby steps in India. The building blocks for EV, the Motor and the Battery sub-system is being sourced from outside the country by ALL manufacturers in India.Further all electric vehicles in the world today use Permanent Magnet motors which are expensive and have a critical rare earth dependency. As a country and many others in the world are dependent for foreign sources for rare earths.At Chara, we are designing, fabricating and deploying magnet free motors for EV and other applications. The technology we have developed comes under the umbrella of Switched Reluctance. The motors based on this tech are reliable, cheaper, locally manufacturable and free from rare earth dependency. We have developed and tested our first proto in a test bed and the in field with a lead customer.We are now designing production quality Switched Reluctance Motor for 3 wheelers.The technology that is developed has a host of other applications and the addressable market is both domestic and foreign.
