Revolutionizing Green Hydrogen with PFAS-Free, Precious Metal-Free Electrolysis CLIMAFOUR is pioneering a game-changing AEM (anion exchange membrane) water electrolysis technology to produce affordable, scalable green hydrogen. Our innovation replaces costly platinum-group metals (PGMs) and toxic PFAS-based binders (e.g., Nafion) with proprietary non-precious metal catalysts and an atomic scale self-assembling process, slashing costs while boosting efficiency and durability. The Problem Current electrolyzers depend on platinum-group metals (PGMs) like iridium and platinum for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). These materials are scarce, expensive (contributing ~40% of system costs), and ethically contentious due to mining practices. Additionally, conventional catalyst coatings use PFAS-based binders like Nafion, which persist in ecosystems and pose health risks. Existing manufacturing methods, such as air spraying, also result in inconsistent catalyst-electrode contact, reducing efficiency and durability while inflating balance-of-plant (BoP) complexity. The Innovation Traditional electrolyzers rely on scarce, expensive PGMs (e.g., iridium, platinum) and PFAS-containing materials like Nafion, which contribute to 40% of system costs and environmental harm. Our solution eliminates both: • Non-Precious OER/HER Catalysts: Engineered from abundant metals (e.g., nickel-iron composites), Our catalysts achieve performance parity with platinum-group metals (PGMs) at 80% lower cost, unlocking scalable green hydrogen production. • PFAS-Free Atomic Bonding: A self-assembling process ensures catalysts bind directly to electrodes at the atomic level, removing the need for toxic binders and preventing performance-degrading “shedding.” • Universal Scalability: Coat any shape (square, circular) or size (cm to meter-scale) without costly spray systems, reducing balance-of-plant complexity by 30%.
