COSMOS BIO PRIVATE LIMITED is a biotech startup registered in rural karnataka called Hosadurga. In our startup we are producing some biologically active ingredients for human health and wellness. The first molecule that we have successfully produced in our startup is called ectoine which has huge commercial value in pharma and cosmetic industry. In cosmetic industry ectoine is used in antiaging products and also deep moisturizer for various skin diseases. In pharma industry ectoine is used for nasal sprays and eye drop for various allergies such as allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis. In our startup we are producing ectoine using recombinant DNA technology by cloning and expression ectabc gene cluster of halophilic bacteria in E.coli. In collaboration with National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) we have successfully extracted an extremophile called bacillus clausii which was used as ectoine biosynthesis gene donor. Currently we have successfully produced several grams of recombinant ectoine in a small scale bioreactor. Our goal now is to scale up ectoine production for commercialization.
