I’m a Potato grower cum potato trader and cold storage owner. Often due to the low market demand for potatoes in Deesa GUJARAT, the cost of potato storage (cold storage) is not even yielded. Also, 100% dependence for potato sales on APMCs is a big concern because it added extra cost of commission and honour cost and also Deteriorated quality due to transportation and not proper handling. Directly and indirectly, consumers have to face these market conclusions. They have to pay a high rate, not have fresh Potatoes on time and also due to a lack of knowledge of varieties of potatoes, they have to buy what is sold in the market. During the potato slump years, we made small packages of potatoes and sold them directly to consumers in big cities. At that time, we realized that if we had a good consumer base with us, we could have sold our large stock at a good price. After that, we explored all the market avenues where we can connect with the consumer and grow the consumer's preference to produce and sell it at a good price. For having the trust of consumers and make them engaged with us we have registered trade mark (AGRITO) and started supplying in the retail market. Thus, gradually we started getting a very good response from the customers. Thus, we will increase the consumer base having common preferences and we will supply one after the other quality farm produce in brand packing on international accepted parameters.
