According to the International Energy Agency, the construction sector is responsible for over one-third of global energy consumption and nearly 40% of direct and indirect CO2 emissions. We have eroded topsoil, depleted groundwater, released chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) into the atmosphere, thinned the protective ozone layer, and continue to use fossil fuels to meet our energy needs. This has resulted in the extinction of millions of organisms and reduced the natural layers that protect humanity from dangerous infectious diseases like SARS, Ebola, COVID19, etc. There is an urgent, pressing need to Counter Urbanization and reduce Global Warming. The Center for Research in Environmental and Sustainable Technologies (CREST) Foundation aims to help by integrating all seven strands of sustainability: Air, Soil, Water, Food, Shelter, Energy, and People in Sustainable living communities across the United States and the rest of the world. The Foundation will help retrofit business models with Triple Bottomline philosophy that supports the wellbeing of People and the Planet along with Profits. To bring about a paradigm shift in our understanding, CREST Foundation’s ESG goals will be directed at Creating 500,000 jobs in the next ten years, Transforming 600,000 human lives with clean air and the highest standards of Food Safety, Producing 400 GW of clean energy through net-zero communities and reducing food miles and pollution from supply chains. The objective of the foundation will be to ground 20 communities across 2000 acres each over the next ten years. Funds allocated to the foundation will be used for six different purposes: Create Sustainable Cities and Communities, that help in creating ecological balance and promote biodiversity. Create a Climate Action Institute that can inspire a paradigm shift by raising awareness through training programs. Innovate Clean Technology Conduct exhaustive research into zero-waste management processes. Produce and distribute organically farmed food at scale. Support preventive care and wellness living. Apart from championing all 16 Sustainability Development Goals identified by the UN, CREST Foundation will also drive economic growth and transform a fund of $6 billion dollars into $45 billion over the next ten years. Our transformative economic model consists of research and development into sustainability, providing sustainable consulting and advisory services, developing awareness programs, and creating commercial, sustainable, urban living spaces. To that end, a conglomerate of passionate people with deep hands-on experience in their respective fields has come together to research ways of creating Climate Responsive Habitats and Net-Zero Sustainable Communities around the world. Through the work of the foundation, we also hope to support underserved populations with access to clean air, water, food, shelter, and energy.
