Danista Organics LLP is the brainchild of female doctors, who realised that the most of the non communicable diseases(NCD’s) like Diabetes,Hypertension, obesity, Non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are a result of prolonged consumption of highly processed food , which are very easily available. These including refined pulses, cereals, oils, white sugar, flours and so on. The lack of natural fibre rich food like millets , unpolished rice and flours and pulses in the diet of the common man contribute to the diseases. We along with our spouses, who are also doctors realised the need of making the general public aware of the harmful effects of processed foods and the immense benefits of unprocessed food and millets. We started this Organics retail outlet in Yendada, Visakhapatnam with an aim of making unprocessed,organically grown , pesticide and preservative free food available to the public at large. We interact with the customers when they visit our store and explain the health benefits of regular use of millets and unpolished rice and other pulses. We also explain how, in the long run , regular use of this kind of food helps reduce the incidence of diabetes and hypertension and NAFLD. We train our sales persons too and make them aware of the nutritional benefits of millets and other organic food so that they can also impress upon young customers. Being from a medical background helps us communicate the same to customers easily. We are in touch with local farmers and are encouraging them to produce organic agricultural produce and thus are trying to build an ecosystem of helping the local farmers to obtain a better price for their produce (organically grown crops give less yield and hence are little pricey ). We plan to start a similar retail chain in the whole of visakhapatnam to make healthy food more accessible to the public and make them aware of the health benefits of locally procured organic millets and other foods. Overall it is a small effort from us doctors who truly believe in the saying “Prevention is better than cure”. With The UN declaring year 2023 as “The International Year of Millets” , we are hoping this start up is a step in the right direction and helping our local farmers also supports the “Vocal for Local” cause.
