HimGra-by DESCATUK is a regenerative material innovation initiative developing sustainable textiles from wild Himalayan grass using a patented, waterless, chemical free fiber extraction process. HimGra grows on rainfed land without fertilizers or pesticides, enabling near-zero cultivation carbon and water footprint while creating rural livelihoods in climate-vulnerable Himalayan regions. HimGra fibers are compatible with conventional spinning, weaving, knitting, and processing systems, and can be blended with cotton, wool, silk, and viscose to create luxury fabrics for apparel and home textiles. HimGra innovation has been validated by 40+ brands and has received recognition including the Textile Innovation Challenge (Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India), with ecosystem support from institutions such as IIT Mandi Catalyst, Fashion for Good., HimGra is currently scaling through pilot cultivation supported by Global Resilience Partnerships, ICIMOD with SHG communities, in Uttarakhand filed validated by Centre for Innovations in Public System-CIPS Hyderabad. impact validation by J-PAL South Asia, and partnerships with textile mills and brands to build a traceable, climate-positive fiber-to-fashion value chain..
