Brief description- Gender neutral, ethical and sustainable authentic streetwear label integrating western wear with Indian traditional artisanship. Fashion for all. 7. Detailed description- Fashion industry is the fourth most polluting industry in the wide array of industries which includes transport and the fuel industry. It’s hard to believe but the clothes that we wear contributes more to the doom of the planet than the carbon dioxide released by the vehicles. Fast fashion giants provide clothes at a cheap price but the cost that we pay feeds the status quo of profitability over a sustainable future. Fast fashion works on exploitative labor conditions, low wages, unsafe working conditions, with global production in low economy countries, and bulk production of an obscene amount of clothes most of which end up in the landfills, not to mention how they steal the ideas of independent designers. The vision- The brand that we are creating will cater to the needs of the people. We are creating a sustainable and ethical brand collectively trying to reduce the carbon footprint produced by the industry. The brand will be transparent about the products that we launch and the entire process that goes into the making of a ethically organic product. The ways we will be doing that at the initial stage with limited funding are by- • Upcycling used clothes which would’ve otherwise ended up in landfills, thus reducing a great chunk from the waste. • Dead stock- Trendy clothes often end up not being consumed and thus contributing to the waste. With our highly talented designers with authentic designs, we make those once trendy pieces into timeless quality products. • Reducing Consumption- The average human buys 66 pieces of clothing in a year 80% of which are worn less than 4 times, the reason being the questionable quality of products. Here at Utopian Reserve, we create the best quality of products so that people might consume less but quality products and in turn dispose of less clothes. • Water usage- The average bomber jackets consumes 10,330 liters of water which is equivalent to 24 years of drinking water for a human being. Here, we are trying to reduce the wastage of water to a minimum possible level which are far less than fashion giants are using. • Traditional artisans- Traditional artisans and craftsmen have been part of a rich yet dying legacy. We are attempting to encourage artisans to continue to produce craft to pass their skill and knowledge onto others by providing a platform to showcase their talent which will be valued to their true worth.
