Company Overview Doctor Millet Foodcraft Private Limited, incorporated on March 21, 2025, under the Companies Act, 2013, is a women-led start-up committed to reviving and redefining millet consumption in Kerala and beyond. The company is a private limited entity limited by shares, founded with a vision to promote sustainable agriculture, empower rural farmers, and offer healthy, millet-based food alternatives to consumers. Doctor Millet Foodcraft operates as both a manufacturer and trader of raw millets and a wide range of value-added millet products. By partnering directly with local farmers and controlling the entire value chain—from seed to shelf—the company ensures quality, affordability, and traceability in every product. With a strong emphasis on health, tradition, and innovation, the company aims to become a trusted millet brand in both rural and urban markets. 2. Problem & Solution 2.1. Problem Statement Kerala’s farmers face dwindling incomes due to falling yields of traditional cereal crops and rising input costs. Meanwhile, urban and suburban consumers are increasingly health-conscious but have limited access to locally grown, nutrient-rich grains. Millet cultivation has declined by over 30% in the past decade in the state, despite government incentives and proven agronomic practices. Lack of technical know-how, erratic market prices, and weak supply-chain linkages further discourage farmers from adopting millet farming. Millet Cultivation Trends (Kerala & India) Millet farming in Kerala remains very limited in official statistics: only about 480 hectares of “cereals & millets” were recorded statewide in 2021–22ecostat.kerala.gov.in.
