Kerala has a very good result in Grade 10 and 12 pass percentage. But to the contrary, students perform worse in higher level entrance examinations such as Mathematics Olympiad and Joint Entrance Examination to IITs. One of the national trends that is also reflected in Kerala, is the decline in the academic capabilities of students as they reach higher classes, as seen in NCERT’s National Achievement Survey. As a result, Kerala has a higher rate of unemployment, double the rate of national average. With an aim to answer the key question, where are the left out percentage of students and why couldn't they come out with good achievements nor a decent job, we supervised some experimentation programmes across the state. We relied on modern data analytical tools and figured out some of the serious problems in our education ecosystem. There is a huge gap between education, innovation and employability. Students study a lot of things, without knowing the purpose. They fear to fail and start anything new. For all these reasons, India is one of the biggest importers of technology, we are the biggest market. The knowledge/skill sets provided by our current education system is not sufficient for our children to be the leaders of tomorrow. In our traditional schooling system, students learn science by skimming through textbooks. They may excel in examinations, but lack in-depth concepts as they do not experience what they learn. We are foreseeing a world dominated by Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Big Data etc. - but we don’t even impart necessary coding skills at school! Elan Learning Labs is committed to bridge this very gap. We have created various modules on Science Activities, Future Technologies, Robotics, Computational and Logical Thinking to make them experience and have a deeper conceptual understanding of the subjects taught at school, and also to develop the necessary 21st Century skill sets.
