Exergy Innovations Private Limited is a promising start-up mentored by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education & Development at Chitkara University, Punjab. They aim to manufacture waste heat recovery products—the primary product named “SMART Furnace” based on Sustainable Melting and Affordable Recuperator Technology. Up to 50% of the heat goes out as waste from the furnace. The problem is with every furnace all over the globe—metal melting SME industries facing a massive loss of fuel as flue gas. The product's unique selling point is an energy-saving device called “Heat exchanger” or “Recuperator” which preheats air for the furnace and increase efficiency by 80%. The patented design of the recuperator is innovative to use the maximum amount of heat for preheating incoming air. Customers will choose this product because of the low-cost product, a high return on investment and pollution-free working space. Mr Prabhjot Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Chitkara University, Punjab, visualized the idea of making a high energy consumption furnace an economical one. He and his team have excellent experience developing waste heat recovery products and working with a commitment to add modern science values to reach the global market. An end-user successfully tested the prototype with the help of Rs. 18 Lac grant funding under the PRISM scheme of DSIR, MST in 2015. Exergy Innovations Private Limited already commercialized its products in Patiala, Mohali and Jagadhari MSMEs.
