Our startup is developing a Portable Smart Optical Shop Unit that combines eye testing, facial scanning, virtual frame selection, customised frame manufacturing, and automated lens fitting in a single compact setup. Traditional optical shops require maintaining large inventory of frames in multiple designs, sizes, colours, and materials. Due to frequent changes in fashion trends, a significant portion of this stock becomes unsold, leading to financial loss and plastic waste. Additionally, new optometrists and optical shop owners face a high entry barrier because of the huge capital required for inventory and skilled lens fitter expenses. To solve this, we offer an on-demand eyewear solution. The unit includes a testing and refraction area, followed by 3D facial scanning. The customer can view their facial scan on a screen and digitally try multiple frame designs, customise the fit (size, colour, design, material), and select the best option. After finalisation, the frame is 3D printed, eliminating the need for bulk frame inventory. The unit also contains a lens tray and auto-edger for cutting and fitting lenses in full-frame, half-frame, and rimless spectacles, enabling faster delivery and consistent quality. This innovation reduces inventory waste, promotes sustainable manufacturing, lowers startup costs for optometry businesses, and ensures optimal spectacle fitting, improving comfort and visual performance. The solution can be adopted by optical retailers, optometrists, ophthalmology clinics, and eyewear chains as a scalable and future-ready optical dispensing model.
