Fibrinova Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is a sustainability-driven startup developing nanocellulose, a next-generation biomaterial derived from agricultural residues such as rice straw, sugarcane bagasse, and milkweed fiber. These abundant and underutilized waste streams, often burned or discarded, are converted through proprietary, eco-efficient processes into high-performance nanocellulose in both cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) and cellulose nanofiber (CNF) forms. Nanocellulose offers exceptional mechanical strength, rheological control, and biodegradability, making it an ideal plant-based functional ingredient for the paints & coatings and cosmetics & personal care industries. In paints and coatings, it enhances viscosity, stability, and durability of water-based formulations, reducing the need for multiple layers and synthetic polymers. In cosmetics, it provides natural thickening, emulsifying, and active-delivery properties, addressing the growing demand for green and non-toxic alternatives to petroleum-based additives. India’s nanocellulose market is still nascent but rapidly expanding, driven by rising environmental awareness, regulatory pressure for sustainable materials, and strong government support for circular economy ventures. Leveraging its strategic location in Punjab, a region rich in biomass resources, and incubation at IISER Mohali’s Technology Business Incubator, Fibrinova is positioned to become one of India’s first integrated producers of nanocellulose, enabling domestic industries to transition toward eco-friendly, high-performance materials.
