In their own words
The startup is located in Ghildiyal Gaon, Block Jayerikhal, Pauri, Uttarakhand, with a mission to make my village progressive and sustainable. Our goal is to produce and deliver Pahadi produce to both domestic and international markets, using transparency and storytelling to highlight the organic nature of our products. Over time, the startup aims to create more job opportunities and revive agricultural practices that were previously abandoned by village residents. In July 2024, we launched a food processing unit that utilizes local agricultural raw materials such as mangoes, jackfruit, figs (Timla), turmeric, lemon grass tea and ginger. This initiative has encouraged reverse migration and created various job opportunities for the local community. Starting in 2020, households across the entire Gajwad Gramsabha received 100 mandays (approximately INR 20,000) each year for three years under the MNREGA scheme, thanks to the introduction of lemongrass plantations. These plantations, supported by the Centre of Aromatic Plants and introduced by myself, revitalized about 20 hectares of abandoned agricultural fields, involving all villages within the Gram Sabha.
