The Company, GIRIRAJ BIOGUARD INDIA PVT LTD. Is being set up to offer an anti-soiling, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral protection for various surfaces Like paper (both writing & decorative), wood, automotive interiors, etc. The product has been developed keeping in mind the stringent REACH standards regulations for chemicals prevalent in Europe as well as meeting food grade packaging requirements. BIOGUARD as a surface treatment agent was developed by VHP SECURITY PAPERS, The Netherlands based arm of OBERTHUR FIDUCIAIRE. This invention was essentially aimed at protecting bank notes and it’s surface. BIOGUARD enjoys IP protection for the product and application. The product utilisation has since been expanded to cover writing papers and decorative papers. There is an ongoing development process to expand it’s application on packaging material including for edible items wrapping, flexible packaging, mono cartons, corrugated boxes, etc. Also on the anvil are sanitised paper based packaging for surgical and other materials use in high infection zones in speciality hospitals and medical centres. Simultaneous development work is ongoing for adapting the usage footprint to cover automotive interiors, wall paints, furniture surfaces, etc. The possibility of local manufacture of an over print varnish infused with BIOGUARD will be natural progression in the manufacturing chain going forward. Thus, the project offers immense scalable opportunities that the expansion in utilisation offers.
