In their own words
Global AID is operational in remote tribal and rural areas of Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh. Its focus is on ‘Child Centric Community based Empowerment’. It operates through its flagship program entitled HEALSS (Health, Education to Employment, Agriculture, Livelihoods, Sports and Solar Energy). Since 2008, it has been able to educate 1714 children of remote tribal and rural areas of Visakhapatnam and Vijayanagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh. The program is titled as ‘Hub and Spoke’ model of education by following ‘Activity Based Learning’. Global AID starts schools where there are school going aged children but no school within their habitation or nearby. Teacher is also chosen from the same habitation who will be trained before appointing. Few of the children have even completed graduation and are in the process of getting jobs. Health program has graduated from mere health rallies, health surveys to implementing ‘Telemedicine’. Reviving farming cultural foods by providing necessary inputs to farmers thus aimed to achieve reverse migration. Sports is being promoted both a local and global level. Global AID Girls warden has successfully represented India in Wheelchair Basketball Tournaments held nationally and internationally (Indonesia, Thailand). Other sports being presently promoted are swimming, javelin and para-shooting Providing solar energy to the remotest hamlets has brought light into their lives and secured homes. A survey is complete and poised to start primary schools in remote tribal area – Ananthagiri Mandal, Visakhapatnam District. Collaborating in the implementation of the concept of Global AID’s flagship program HEALSS (Health, Education to Employment, Agriculture, Livelihoods, Sports and Solar Energy) fully, partially or component wise does exist.
