In their own words
In a rapidly aging population, Chronic Pains (CP) like back pain and knee joint pains are emerging as a significant healthcare problem. Most of these problems aggravates due to the handling of heavy objects during day to day life. A manually operated unpowered mechanical machine which effectively addresses these issues is highly desirable. This device is evolved as a solution for this problem. Many senior citizens as well as women homemakers are engaged in setting up of home kitchen gardens. In agricultural farming or home gardening, it is inevitable to carry heavy loads such as containers, filled grow bags, clay pots, fertilizer packs, harvested crops etc. At present, wheel barrows are generally used for transporting heavy things in the nearby localities. But it needs the manual loading and unloading of objects along with the upward thrust while moving the vehicle and thus leads to the joint pains. Our innovation is a device which doesn’t require manual loading or unloading of objects into the machine. Also it doesn’t require to apply force upward as the machine works in the principle of compound first class lever. The present invention may also find application in warehouses, building construction, air ports, see ports, bus stations etc. As this machine doesn’t contain things like battery, motor, engine, belt which require frequent maintenance the failure chances are very less. It can carry objects with as much as 50 Kg even by lady without any strain. It is a multipurpose device. Apart from shifting objects it can also be used as a weed remover. It removes the weeds by uprooting rather than chopping off as usually done by the existing devices. Without the fear of snakes, thorny bushes and weeds that make skin irritation we can easily remove the weeds using this device. Technology of the invention: The machine basically works on the principle of first class lever. It is a compound machine made up of two first class levers and a wheel and axle. A scissor-like assembly consisting the handles and load trays acts as one of the first class lever that moves in the horizontal plane and fixed on a pivot mounted on the axle of the wheels, through a vertical bar. This first class lever enables the machine for grabbing objects from the ground. The axle that connects the wheels works as the pivot of another first class lever which moves in the vertical plane for which the above described scissor-like assembly acts as a lever that carries the load trays on one end, and the handles on which the effort is applied, on the other end. A four bar linkage assembly is equipped with the handle bars in order to get synchronization in the movement of wheel assembly with that of the scissor-like assembly. A metal hook fixed to the extended bar from the pivot, acts as a counter weight holder, provided to carry a counter weight to further reduce the effort of user. This counter weight can balance two times its weight with the load, due to the mechanical advantage.
