Harcourt Butler Engineering Consultancy Pvt. Ltd (HBEC) 1)What we want to address- Energy is highly crucial for any growing economy, where renewable energy is one of the primary components to generate carbon-free energy. Among the various renewable energy generation techniques, Bio-Gas is one of the important sources of generating energy besides solar, wind, hydro, Geo-thermal, and hydrogen. We are concentrating on the life cycle of Bio- Gas energy concerning carbon-free fuel. Since carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide are two main components generated during Anaerobic digestion which are not desired as a fuel. Several initiatives have been taken to take care of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide to remove to obtain pure methane to be used as a carbon-free fuel. The varied quality of different feedstock in different seasons and different weather conditions do produce varying quantities of methane on different occasions. The variance is reasonably too high 2) Idea as a startup – Sustainability is the most important and crucial for the compressed Bio- Gas (CBG) plant for running successfully and give optimum output, from a continuous business point of view following steps need to be taken care of for sustainability. First – continuous and optimum availability of feedstock of desired quality and quantity hence feedstock need to be assured before head. Second – selection of process and technology as per the location and design to ensure optimum process standards ensuring desired output. Third – Assurance of timely disposal/ selling of output to optimize the OPEX cost. Fourth- Right resourcing and continuous training of human resources to prevent plant failure and ensuring effective management. 3)Exploration of the solution – we are working on the process of feedstock quality check, to define a process for desired quantity and quality of CBG as an output. a) working on the quantity of methane produced from a said feedstock and variation in it, due to moisture content and other chemical composition in feed. b) How to manage CBG plant as an industrial chemical processing plant. c) Consistent training, right role definition as per the qualification, timely assessment, and feedback.
