Bridging rural unemployment with urban nutrition gaps, The Farming Buddha is the dream of an engineer who returned to his grandmother's village. The Farming Buddha brings raw, free-range, grass-fed, same-day milk sourced from our curated small farm directly to urban consumers. Our milk also makes preservative and chemical-free cheese, paneer, set curd, yoghurt, and ghee in ecofriendly packaging. Everything we do is hand-made. Commercially available milk does more harm than good. It comes with the risk of exposure to antibiotics and hormones that the conventionally raised cows are fed. Our cows only eat naturally grown grass and healthy hand-made feeds using our oil cakes. Besides bringing nutrition to urban homes, The Farming Buddha also creates year-round unskilled rural employment in our village. As an alternative to the mainstream, centralized model of milk production, we convert fresh milk into value-added products at the village level. This decentralized model of milk production has a high potential to create 10 to 20 jobs in every village. The Farming Buddha stands entirely on the skills present in my village. Most of our workforce is women and youth with no source of employment in rural societies. Conscious consumers willing to support a small rural business and the women who show up to work here every day have helped build the company. .
