Hycosys Pvt Ltd is designing and developing hydrogen-fueled micro gas turbines (MGT) for electricity generation, offering a green alternative for distributed power. The company is working on key components of MGTs such as the combustor, compressor, turbine, recuperator, and bearings, with detailed plans for their testing, manufacturing, and integration underway. Beyond power generation, Hycosys's MGTs can power UAVs, drive hydrogen-fueled heavy-duty vehicles, and be used in combined heat and power (CHP) applications. By developing these aerospace components in-house, Hycosys aims to advance India's self-reliance in critical aircraft engine technology. Hycosys is developing two combustion technologies: a novel micromixer-based combustor and a pressure gain combustion system (rotating detonation engine), which could boost MGT efficiency by over 50%. The company plans to use additive manufacturing and high-precision CNC for component production. Founded in June 2024, Hycosys is aiming for a minimum viable product in 3 years and a final product in 4 years. Hycosys targets annual revenue of INR 1600 crore by 2034. Founded by Dr. Tapish Agarwal and Mr. Ugandhar Reddy, Hycosys brings together extensive expertise. Dr. Agarwal, a former research scientist at Technion-Israel, holds a B. Tech and M. Tech from IIT Kanpur and a Ph.D. from Centrale Supelec, France. Mr. Reddy, previously a principal engineer at GE Aviation and a senior aerothermal engineer at Reaction Engines UK, contributed to the design of advanced aviation gas turbines like the GEnX, LEAP, and GE9X.
