There is a 65% to 70% shortage of livestock feed in India affecting 70 million small scale & marginal dairy farmers. Closer to my home the cost of fodder has gone up from Rs 3K a tractor to Rs17k in the last 2-3 years. Farmers are sentimental to let go of their milking animals, or commit suicide or grow fodder in their micro one acre land, most don't have a much land. Net affect is that farmers productivity is Negatively affected leading to suicides , and other irrational choices. While we are world #1 in dairy, we have been selling & exporting more milk than produced, in some cases even heavily adulterated. And if the system shortages continue we will have to import milk by 2021. Our goal is to provide for a design intervention, that eliminates the dependency on farm residues / fodder and that the small scale farmers can be self sustainable in dairy while also not use their land for growing fodder. We believe our product design will enable upto 40Kgs of fodder per cow everyday from the 7th day of deployment. Our product will not be dependent on electricity or battery, no new plastic added into the environment, while being easy to assemble and maintain. Compared to other systems in the market we can deliver the product in less than $150. (Market comparatives @$714 or above) Our product will enable an incremental 2 to 4 litre of milk and or an increase of upto 300gms of fat/butter. This could add to additional revenue of upto Rs 15k to Rs 54K per farmer per year guaranteeing about 110 to 260% ROI for the farmer.
