Brief Synopsis All over the world, Electric vehicles have gained a lot of popularity and support. Electric Bikes or E-bikes are motorized bicycles, with an integrated motor used to assist propulsion. Popularity of these E-Bikes to be specific have grown multi-folds because of the easiness of use and it being the most environment friendly option. People have started considering the health plus environmental benefits of E-Bikes, hence adding to the growing demand. The Global Pandemic has just added onto the quick adoption of E-Bikes. This has given rise to the demand for the key electric components like Motors which are critical parts in these E-Bikes. These motors are very crucial parts as they turn any normal bike into an E-Bike by providing the rider with assistance in pedalling. Currently, Chinese are the biggest suppliers of these rear-hub motors in India and also Globally. This leads to a lot of dependency of India on China for these critical components, thus resulting in large amounts of import from the country. Not Only India, but Global E-Bike players also import most of the Electric Hub Motors from China. Currently the Manufacturers are heavily dependent on one nation for sourcing critical Electric components. The complex purchasing process leads to wastage of both time and money. All the above-mentioned downsides of importing from China has not only led to Indian E-Bike players looking out for domestic suppliers but also led to other countries looking out for better alternatives. To solve this problem, the new start-up- HYM Drive Systems is launched. HYM Drive Systems is a company to manufacture Rear Hub motors for pedal assist E-Bikes (Motorized bicycles) in India. It is In-line with ‘Make in India’ Initiative by the Govt. of India which encourages companies to develop, manufacture and assemble products in India, thus reducing dependency on other nations. The company plans to establish a manufacturing facility in India for Electric Hub motors to cater to Indian and Global e-bike OEMs at competitive prices. The main benefit of this set-up would be that the manufacturing facility will be set up by developing strong supply chain, by collaborating with domestic vendors of the components required for the manufacturing of Hub Motors.
