SMART (Sports Management Automation for Racquet Sports) - A successful innovation for the Racquet Sport industry, introducing more automation to avoid the exhaustive manual work and the erroneous data management. SMART is aimed for all Racquet sports like Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash etc. Midway through the implementation of the first phase, our team got an opportunity to work with KBSA [Kerala Badminton (Shuttle) Association] to enhance their operation. we have implemented our innovative automation concepts by KSBA requirements starting from the member registration to tournament registration, tournament enrollment, rank list preparation/updation etc was automated. Also the certificate generation is being automated in such a way that both participation as well as merit certificates can be printed and circulated simultaneously, during the final ceremony right of the tournament. iCore have successfully implemented paperless tournaments by introducing our tablet application module named Umpire Assist. Umpire Assist Module displays match schedules and also facilitates a multitude of features to assist the Umpires. It is user friendly and provides error free settings corresponding to different types of matches. Schedules get imported to Umpire Assist Module from the SMART Application and automatically assigns individual match to tablets along with the associated umpire name and the court number. All umpires need to do is follow the instructions given in the tablet and control the game. If the internet/WiFi connectivity is available, the live score can be seen in your laptop/system which is another module of the SMART Application. The same score card can be displayed in the LED/LCD displays available in the stadium. We've successfully executed these SMART modules in three State Level Badminton tournaments and one National Level tournament in India. Our present goal is to go back to our core idea of customising our product, leveraging the implemented modules along with our lessons learned to other Racquet sports events. With all the experience we gained during the implementation of Badminton sport, we plan to incorporate the same concept and model to other sports by productising the concept to all Racquet sports.
