Indee Paaws Council is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the welfare, protection, and dignity of Indian (desi) dogs living on and off the streets. Founded on compassion and lived experience, the Council works to ensure that native Indian dogs receive food, medical care, safety, and respect—without taking away their natural freedom. Inspired by the unconditional love of a mother dog, Ma Thakur, and her pups who once became the founder’s family, Indee Paaws Council was born from both loss and purpose. After pursuing formal education in animal care abroad, the founder returned to India in 2018 and began on-ground work—feeding, treating, sheltering, and advocating for stray dogs from the very first day. Our approach is community-driven and humane. We focus on Spot Feeding, Spot Treatment, and Spot Sheltering, working closely with local residents to care for dogs in their own territories. We believe Indian dogs thrive best where they belong, and confinement should be limited only to recovery, old age, or severe disability. Through awareness, acceptance, and adoption, Indee Paaws Council strives to change societal attitudes toward desi dogs. We work to empower citizens, support feeders, collaborate with NGOs and government programs, and give India’s most marginalised animals the dignity, love, and care they deserve.
