INSIGHTO TECHNOLOGIES LLP has developed an innovative Visual Expiry indicator TARA. Most cosmetics and beauty products feature a "Period After Opening" (PAO) expiry, typically represented by a small, often overlooked symbol—an open jar with a number like 12M. However, the real challenge lies in actually keeping track of it. It’s nearly impossible to remember the opening date of every product in your vanity—or to document and cross-check it each time you use something. This often leads to using expired products unknowingly. While regulations mandate the inclusion of the Period After Opening (PAO) symbol, its static nature often falls short of providing consumers with a tangible, real-time reminder. No barcode, QR code, or AI can determine the expiry date—because the countdown begins only once the product is opened. There is a need for a dynamic solution that can actively track time and notify the user. Introducing TARA—an innovative visual expiry indicator designed to bridge this critical gap between regulation and real-world consumer behavior. TARA is a compact, standalone device that can be seamlessly integrated into cosmetic packaging and is designed to activate the moment the product is opened. Once triggered, the device initiates an autonomous countdown corresponding to the product’s PAO period (e.g., 6M, 12M). During the safe usage window, it provides a visual indication in the form of a blinking green light. As the product reaches its PAO expiry date, the indicator shifts to a red light—providing a clear, unmistakable visual cue in the form of blinking red led that the product is no longer safe to use. The visual indication remains off during idle periods and is activated only during user interaction with the product.
