Jivaae Life Science Pvt. Ltd. is building CHAVANI™, an high performance skincare brand. Creating a new category at the intersection of classical Ayurvedic botanical science and modern skin barrier biology. The founding thesis is built on a structural gap. Ayurvedic skincare has stopped innovating, heritage brands continue to recycle the same ingredient-led formulations designed for a different era. Meanwhile, modern urban Indian skin faces stressors classical Ayurveda was never built to address: ambient pollution, hard water mineral accumulation, and barrier disruption from over-activing. Clinical dermatology brands exist but carry no botanical or cultural authenticity for the Indian consumer. No brand in India currently occupies the space where rigorous barrier science and genuine Ayurvedic formulation logic meet. CHAVANI was built to own that space. Our formulation philosophy is grounded directly in classical Ayurvedic texts — the Charaka Samhita, Ashtanga Hridayam, and Sharangadhara Samhita. Snehana (classical lipid restoration), Puta Pakva (fermentation and bioavailability science from Rasa Shastra), and Srotas theory (which maps structurally onto modern microbiome biology) are not marketing references, they are our formulation argument. Formulations are developed with an expert cosmetic scientist with over two decades of prestige skincare experience. Our consumer research: Project Joy is a five-wave, blind mixed-methods study (60+ Indian cities) designed by a former Kantar research professional, conducted entirely at zero cost. Across all five independent waves, the same findings held without exception: 60% switch-readiness to a botanical brand delivering barrier repair, clinical proof as the single largest hesitation to switching, and pollution as the #1 unaddressed need in the Ayurvedic skincare category, confirming that both the problem and the market are real.
